Wow, a few days ago I wrote: it's been quiet lately. That was a few days ago, and is no longer true.
Sunday we had some friends over. They are looking for an apartment too and joined us on our Monday hunt. We saw a lot of places and had to adjust some of our ideas about price, quality and neighbourhoods. But putting all that together (and having some luck) we found the perfect middle ground. It's a 1 and 1/2 bedroom apt. in a Brownstone building on a quiet street in Brooklyn. We'll be living in BedStuy on the border of Clinton Hill. The Brooklyn Community Pool is around the corner and we share BedStuy with neighboors like Talib Kweli and Moss Def. Which doesn't mean anything, but sounds nice.
The neighbourhood feels good but hasn't been taken over by rich white people yet. I think this is mostly because of the somewhat inconvenient subway around there... In case you know what that means: We're on the G. There's lots of hanging out on the doorsteps of the brownstones, so I'll need to get a wifebeater (if you speak dutch: a wifebeater is a marcelleke) and a gettoblaster.
Anyway, we're really happy with our find and hope to have a great time there. Gotta run now, Ikea and other moving chores ahead!
